What should I do before a waxing appointment?1. Exfoliate the Area: Gently exfoliate the skin in the area to be waxed 24-48 hours before your appointment. This helps to remove dead skin cells and can prevent ingrown hairs. 2. Avoid Moisturisers, Oils, Gym/Workouts: Clean, dry skin ensures better adherence of the wax. Avoid applying lotion, oils, or moisturisers. Keep skin CLEAN and DRY, including sweat. Wipes are provided for intimate areas—please use them! 3. Hair Length: Ensure that your hair is at least a quarter of an inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). 4. Pain Management: Mild pain reliever, like ibuprofen, about 30 minutes before your appointment. This can help to minimize pain and reduce inflammation. 5. Stay Hydrated and Relaxed: Staying hydrated and relaxed can make a significant difference. Try to avoid caffeine as it can heighten sensitivity. 6. Inform of Any Skin Concerns: If you have any skin conditions or are using specific medications like retinoids, please inform our specialists beforehand, as these can affect your skin's sensitivity. 7. Clean tampon if females are on your period.
-
How long should the hair be?Long enough so the hair is no longer at the 'prickly' stage but if you can wrap the hair around your little finger it is too long. This is different time lengths for different people. Your hair can't be too long, although it will make the treatment more uncomfortable. If the hair is too short, the wax won't grip and will take twice as long with half the result.
-
Should I take a pain killer beforehand? If you are sensitive to waxing then yes. Take 30 minutes before treatment.
-
AftercareThe pores of the skin are open and are prone to infection Nothing to open the pores up anymore....steam room, hot showers etc. Nothing to encourage sweat, dirt and oils into the pours: Sex if intimate waxing Make-up if facial hair removal Deo if underarm hair removal Wear a clean clothes, clean bedding. Cool showers. (cold water closes the pores)
-
What is the difference between hot and warm wax?Warm/strip wax is applied via a spatula or roller. A cotton/paper strip is placed over the wax before removing. This wax is best used on larger areas as is quicker to use. Hot/Hard wax is applied via a sptula and is removed once set. This wax only sticks to the hair not the skin so is better for smaller and delicate areas.
-
What is the difference between waxing and sugaring?Sugaring is a lemon and sugar paste which is hand rolled onto the skin and pulled off in the same direction as the hair growth. This reduces the discomfort. Although as it is removed in smaller sections it does take longer. Sugar is better for larger areas like backs, chests, underarms. It works better on finer hair. Warm/Strip/Roller Waxing is rolled on in long strips (warm/strip wax) - Used for large areas. Hot wax is applied and removed in the opposite direction of the hair growth. - Used for small areas.
-
What is Sugaring?Sugaring is a lemon and sugar paste which is hand rolled onto the skin and pulled off in the same direction as the hair growth. This reduces the discomfort. Although as it is removed in smaller sections it does take longer.
-
Why have waxing/threading/sugaring instead of shaving?Shaving is giving your hair a haircut. It cuts the hair at skin level. the hair comes back within a couple of days and looks thicker as it comes through at its thickest point and blunt edge. The rest pulls the hair from the root, the results last weeks-months as the root need to reproduce a new hair. The root is damaged and when the hair comes back it comes through with a pointed thin edge and therefore doesn't itch. As the hair root is damaged the hair does come back lighter and thinner. Many hairs are so strong they don't damage the root (these hairs are the first to grow back) With the roots that are damaged they will in time regain their strength, which is why it is important to keep regular appointments. Just as it is about to get to full strength we weaken it again, over time it will cause permenant damage, the 'pull' (pain) will be less. Some roots will die off compleatly meaning the area will sparcer.
-
Can I have a chemical peel and waxing on the same day?It is not advised to have waxing and a chemical peel on the same day as the skin may be left too sensitive. You can have 48 hours apart. It is recommended you have the waxing first.
-
What is a patch test and why do I need one?A patch test is using a small amount of product on thin skin, these can be located behind the ear, and crook of the arm. This is to make sure you are not allergic to the products, which are usually used in sensitive areas like the eyes. Although an allergic reaction can still occur at any time a patch test will stop a predisposed allergy that would have caused a bigger reaction happening during a treatment. A patch test is a requirement for certain treatments even if you have had the treatment before elsewhere.
-
What if I don't have a patch test? You will be signing to say you are happy to go ahead despite being warned. As it is in the t&c's and on the lash page to warn you. It is your responsibility to book a patch test. A patch test might not bring up a reaction which can occur at any time. If you have a reaction (and not had a test) you have signed away any legal rights against HRM Beauty.

What is the difference between a lash perm and a lash lift? Not much! A perm uses 'rods' and curls the lashes around it which can cause the lashes to curl back on themselves. This method is still around but has mostly been replaced. A lash lift curls and lifts. A lift uses 3 sizes Small, Medium and Large. Small gives the most dramatic lift, (almost straight up) This is the most common. Large gives more of a curl before lifting (out before up) This is used for extremely long lashes or male lashes (for a natural look). Medium is, of course, between the two. This is used for hooded eyes (as small would have the tips of the lashes hitting the upper bone/skin) or for those wanting a more natural look.
-
What is brown lamination (perm)?Brow lamination uses the same procedure that lash lift does. It sets the brow hairs in place to keep them from going too unruly. this treatments is great to mask gaps in the brows, curly brows and over plucked brows as it can create extra height. This treatment is not suitable for everyone.
-

How does it work? How does it work? DHA is a colourless sugar which reacts with the proteins & amino acids on the outer layers of the skin. The colour that you see while being sprayed is a guide colour only so the therapist can see that you have been fully tanned. Your true colour will be revealed once you have showered after 6- 8 hours. I use a brand that has red undertones for a more natural sunkissed tan. Incomparasion to green undertones which can look more synthetic.
-
How Long Before My Event Should I Have A Tan?Usually 2 days. Or 2 Showers. this is because after 1 shower most of the guidecolour will be reemoved, hoeveer there may bee some left which could transfer to light clothing. It also gives the colour full time (8 hours) to develop.
-
What % should I have?/How dark will I go?This depends on what skin type you are NOT on how dark you want your tan. Using a darker % on a light skin gives the orange 'Essex' look. It is better to do two to three lighter shades that using a darker %. Skin Type 1: Sensitive to sun, Never Tans, Fair Skin, Redheads (Nicole Kidman) = Light 6 - 8% Skin Type 2: Sensitive to sun, Burns in sun, white (Cameron Diaz) = 9% Skin Type 3: Tans but also burns, white - med-olive skin colour (Reese Witherspoon)= 13% Skin Type 4: Rarely burns, Tans well (Jennifer Aniston) = 12 - 16% Skin Type 5: Tans easily and dark (J Lo) = 16%
-
Is it safe?Is it safe? A spray tan gives the same results as spending 10 - 14 days in the sun (without the harmful UV rays). DHA has been approved by the FDA for over 30 years with no adverse effects.
-
I'm pregnant can I have a tan?I'm pregnant can I have a tan? There is no evidence that Spray Tanning is harmful in any way, however I will not spray tan if you are in your 1st trimester. Also be aware that during pregnancy the melanin level in the skin can be altered so tan may end up a different shade to what you expected.

How To Maintain Your Spray Tan On Holiday/Before A Tan:How To Maintain Your Spray Tan On Holiday: Pamper before you tan To help your glow last, it’s a good idea to follow a few simple steps before having a spray tan. Wax or shave a day or so beforehand and wash off any remaining beauty products. Then, exfoliate your skin and avoid applying any other lotions or moisturisers. Remember to brush your teeth before you tan or you could risk having uneven patches around your mouth. Have cool showers This should be easy, even preferable, if you’re travelling to a hot climate. Having cool showers which are not on too powerful a setting will help to keep your tan in place for longer. Afterwards, it’s best to gently pat your skin dry. Avoid oily lotions Many SPFs are oil based, and it's a well known fact that oil strips tan from the skin. To make the most of your tan on holiday, opt for an oil-free sunscreen with a 5* UVA rating allowing you to protect your skin and your tan!

How do I get the best results? How do I get the best results? Before: Go to the bathroom! - If you have to be unwrapped during the hour you will have to pay 25% to be wrapped up again. Do not have a large/heavy meal - This will slow the processes of the body down, avoid these for up to 3 days before to 'cleanse' the liver. Wash & Exfoliate - making sure all products are removed from the skin. Do not apply any deodorant, moisturiser etc...the skin should be clean and bare. Take off any jewellery & Tie up long hair. After: Drink lots! - Recommended 8 glasses of water a day for at least 3 days/1 - 2 Litres. The Fat that has turned into liquid needs to travel to the liver to be disposed of. So the more you drink the more you are helping the fat on it's way. Good Food - Eat plenty of raw fruit and vegetables. Light exercise that doesn't create too much perspiration - to help push fat on it's way without diluting with sweat what ingredients are still on/near surface. Leave It On - Shower lightly but don't wash off with soap/shower gel. Avoid: Tea, Coffee, Energy Drinks, Alcohol, Fizzy Drinks for at least 24 hours. Long Bathing/Showers/Prolonged Water Exposure for a long as long as possible. 8 is best, 12 is better, 72 - you maybe a bit smelly but you'll get the best results. Heavy Exercise - avoid sweating for at least 12 hours so product can be absorbed fully. Going back to BAD eating habits. - Limit Salt, Sugar, Cigarettes & Processed Foods.
